Independence Day 2 script is decent and answers that big burning question!

They’ve been talking about it longer than Mischa Barton’s legs, but finally, seems that “Independence Day” sequel is finally about to becoming a reality.

Filmmaker duo Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin have said numerous times over the past few weeks that they’re not only interested but that they’re working on a story for “July 5” (Okay, that’s not the title, I’m just guessing), and ideally, once that screenplay is done and dusted, the reunited blockbuster-buds will be able to entice original cast Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Will Smith and Adam Baldwin (Okay, high hopes there!) back to reprise their characters from that pioneering effects show reel. Brent Spiner bit it in the original, so unless his weird scientist character a twin brother named ‘Curly’ he needn’t wait by the phone.

One character that might turn up in a sequel? The semi-colon from a computer keyboard.

Speaking to Crave, Devlin, on hand at the Saturn Awards, said “We will finally address the Mac/PC alien computer issue in the sequel.”

Well, that’s a relief.

Devlin meanwhile tells Collider that he and Emmerich aren’t just piss farting around here, they want to do a sequel. Definitely. For sure. No shit.

“I can tell you that Roland Emmerich and I are working together for the first time in eleven years and we are working really hard to try and make this happen. I don’t know if we’re gonna pull it off. I don’t know if it is going to happen. But I can tell you that we’re spending a lot of effort, that we’re writing together for the first time in eleven years. And we want to make it happen.”

Devlin says the storyline they’ve come up with is actually worthy of a sequel. I don’t think the statement was a jab at “Alvin & The Chipmunks : The Squeakuel”, it was just mentioned in conversation.
