“Independence Day : Resurgence” director Roland Emmerich is sticking to sci-fi event tentpole pics for the moment.
Per Deadline, the filmmaker will next tackle “Moonfall” for Universal Pictures.
Scripted by Emmerich, Harald Kloser (“The Day After Tomorrow”) and Spencer Cohen (“Extinction”), the pic tells of a band of misfits who unite to save humanity when the moon falls out of orbit and starts to head towards earth.
According to the trade, the film is described as “Close Encounters Of The Third Kind” meets “2012”.
The movie will be Emmerich’s next.
