It’s Game Over for Kevin Tancharoen’s Mortal Kombat movie

Kevin Tancharoen, the choreographer turned filmmaker who kicked ass with those “Mortal Kombat” webseries (the second season of which recently hit the net), has decided he’s not waiting around for the feature film version of the console classic to get off the ground.

Taking a page out of, well, every other director who has been attached to a new “Mortal Kombat” movie over the years, Tancharoen’s decided to pack his bags and work on something that’s got a better chance of coming to fruition.

Assumingly, someone else will replace him on the project.

A new “Mortal Kombat” movie – the third, counting the two live-action things New Line did – has been in the works for a better part of a decade, with everyone from Mink and attached at different times.
Though Tancharoen’s “Mortal Kombat Legacy” webseries featured the likes of Casper Van Dien and Mark Dacascos, none of the actors were believed to be attached to the on-again off-again on-again off-again feature film take.

Tancharoen announced his departure from the project on Twitter.

How do you spell disaster!? Charmed reboot in the works!
