It’s on! Masters of the Universe filming in July!

With production [finally] about to begin on the long-gestating “Masters of the Universe” movie (remember when McG was going to direct this thing?), expect to hear who’ll be wearing the red undies and silver casing shortly (likely by or at WonderCon, that’s my guess, anyway…).  I’m guessing they’ll go the route of the 1987 feature and chase a relative unknown (Dolph Lundgren was only known for playing the villain of “Rocky IV” when he was cast) for the role of Prince Adam/He-Man and surround the fresh face with some more recognizable names for the part of Skeletor, Man-at-Arms, Tri-Klops etc. Fanboys have suggested for a long spell that Kurt Russell would be great as Man-at-Arms, and I’m inclined to agree – he’d rock that. It is Sony financing, so do expect to see at least a couple of names in there.

Anywho, our friends at Production Weekly tell us that filming is due to commence mid-July in Prague on the movie, which is being produced by Sony with Aaron and Adam Nee directing. The most recent draft of the script, by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, is also apparently now the shooting script – so the project is seemingly in the best shape it’s been since first floated about a decade ago.

Schwarzenegger wants this sequel made – why doesn’t the studio?
