J.J Abrams to tackle Stephen King’s Billy Summers

“Glory” and “Legends of the Fall” director Ed Zwick will helm the pilot and adapt

Simon & Schuster

JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot is in early negotiations to craft a series based on Stephen King novel “Billy Summers”.

According to Variety, Ed Zwick and Herskovitz would adapt, with “Glory” director Zwick helmer. Afterwards, they’ll shop the pilot to the nets.

For the unversed, King’s novel follows Billy Summers, a former Marine sniper and soon-retiring hitman who takes one last high-paying job. For his last hurrah, he must pretend to be an aspiring writer to embed himself in a quiet town and hunt his target, Joel Allen, who is also a hitman. But soon Billy, who only takes jobs killing “bad” men, grows increasingly skeptical of the mobsters who hired him.

Abrams previously brought “Castle Rock”, inspired by characters originating in some of King’s classics, to the screen.
