Jafar origin movie rumored to be in development

A movie based on the early years of “Aladdin” villain Jafar could be the next cab to leave the rank

With the critical and commercial success of Disney’s “Cruella” over the weekend, expect the studio to start scouring the vaults to see what other classic villains they can give the origin movie treatment too.

While we await to see whether the house of mouse think there’s any juice in Scar, Captain Hook, or Doctor Facilier prequels, Patreon scooper Daniel Richtman says he’s heard that a movie based on the early years of “Aladdin” villain Jafar could be the next cab to leave the rank.

While we’ve seen Jafar played in live-action before, most recently by Marwan Kenzari in Guy Ritchie’s “Aladdin”, a film chronicling the Royal Vizier of Agrabah’s no doubt messy upbringing? Something completely new.

Jafar is a fictional character, introduced in the 1992 animated film, but is said to be based on the evil sorcerer from the ”One Thousand and One Nights” collection of stories.
