James, Ratajkowski set for Lying and Stealing

Theo James (”Divergent”) and Emily Ratajkowski (”Gone Girl”) will star in romantic thriller “Lying and Stealing”, it was announced today by producers Michael Costigan and Naomi Despres, and IM Global’s President of Sales Michael Rothstein.

Directed by Matt Aselton (”Gigantic”) and written by Aselton (”Gigantic”) and Adam Nagata (”Gigantic”), the film is produced by Costigan (”Ghost in the Shell”, ”Stoker”, ”Brokeback Mountain”, ”American Gangster”) and Naomi Despres (”Kill the Messenger”, ”High Crimes”, ”Zero Effect”). Principal photography will start on location in Los Angeles in February 2017.

Ivan (Theo James) is a gifted and discerning art thief, whose specialty is infiltrating and stealing from Los Angeles’ highest end collectors. It’s a dirty, complex business, and business is good – yet Ivan wants out. Elyse (Emily Ratajkowski) is an aspiring actress whose own past transgressions in Hollywood haunt her, as well as a mountain of debt. These two outsiders are drawn to each other, and as brilliant con artists in their own right, team up for one last, big daring heist. Part Thomas Crowne Affair, part Out of Sight, these two characters ride the razors edge of the high-end LA universe, playing their own shell game against the establishment, and finding each other in the process. With money, incarceration, and lives on the line, their escapade tests their explosive love story and loyalty.

Theo James will next be seen in Jim Sheridan’s ”The Secret Scripture” starring Rooney Mara, which had its world premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. His other film credits include ”The Divergent” series franchise starring Shailene Woodley and Kate Winslet, ”Franny” opposite Richard Gere and Dakota Fanning and ”War On Everyone” with Alexander Sarsgaard and Michael Pena. James will next be seen in the starring role in the political thriller ”Backstabbing for Beginners” opposite Ben Kingsley.

Emily Ratajkowski’s breakout role was in David Fincher’s critically acclaimed and box office hit ”Gone Girl”. She has also appeared in ”Entourage” starring Adrian Grenier and Jeremy Piven and ”We Are Your Friends” starring Zac Efron. She will next be seen in ”In Darkness” starring Natalie Dormer and Joely Richardson and Joe Swanberg’s Netflix show, ”Easy”.
