Jennifer Lawrence returns to indy roots for Neugbauer drama

Jennifer Lawrence will return from an intended hiatus to headline a new indie drama from New York stage director Lila Neugbauer.

The untitled film, set up with IAC Films and A24, is said to be tonally and structurally similar to that of Lawrence’s breakthrough “Winter’s Bone” – in other words, it’s going to rely largely on story, than special effects, and likely carry a more modest budget than some of Lawrence’s bigger films (“The Hunger Games”, “Passengers”).

Lawrence next appears in Fox’s ‘final’ “X-Men” movie, “Dark Phoenix”, opening in June.

The untitled feature kicks off shooting in mid-June.
