John Lithgow is Jud Crandell in Pet Sematary

The unyielding adaptable John Lithgow will play Jud Crandell in Paramount’s new adaptation of Stephen King’s “Pet Sematary”.

Fred Gwynne played the role of Crandell, the Creed’s kindly neighbor, in the 1989 film.

Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch direct the film, the story of a man (Jason Clarke) that decides to bury his dead cat, and later, dead son, at the local Pet Cemetery – to freaky results.

Lithgow’s recent credits include an Emmy winning turn as Winston Churchill in “The Crown” for Netflix and “Daddy’s Home 2”, playing the father of Will Ferrell’s character. His many, many credits include the classics “Terms of Endearment”, “Footloose”, “Raising Cain”, and the “Shrek” series.
