John McTiernan is back! Sci-fi actioner with Uma in the works!

The inimitable John McTiernan, director of one of the ‘80s most glorious action trifecta (in “Predator”, “Die Hard”, and “The Hunt for Red October”), will return to the multiplex with an sci-fi actioner starring QT fave Uma Thurman.

McTiernan, who has spent more time showcasing his skills to the walls at Yankton than to cinemagoers in recent years (do a google), will direct “Tau Ceti 4”, based on his own screenplay.
According to Screen Daily, it’s one of the hot offerings at Cannes this year and fixes on “the war-torn fourth planet in the remote Tau Ceti solar system, where three heavily armed strangers show up, size up the various oligarchs and military thugs who terrorise the place, and set about killing every single one of them.”

Aussie actor Travis Fimmel, best known for his work in Swayze two-hander “The Beast” and “Vikings”, will co-star alongside “Kill Bill” alum Thurman.

McTiernan, whose last film was “Basic” in 2003 (a film that’s script matches its title), produces alongside Gail Sistrunk, Anthony Katagas, and Thurman.

Despite some missteps on and offscreen in recent times, it’ll be a joy to have the man behind such classic moments as the “bit where they get to Da Choppa” and “that scene where the limo driver saves the day” in “Predator” and “Die Hard”, respectively, back behind the Nikon.
