Kathy Bates is the new Matlock!

Iconic TV drama Matlock is getting a new lease on life with Oscar winner Kathy Bates plugged in to play the former defense attorney on a new pilot.

CBS houses a redo that’ll feature the Misery and About Schmidt actress as Madeline Matlock a “brilliant septuagenarian” who “rejoins the work force at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within.”

Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Snyder Urman produces via her overall deal with CBS Studios. Actor Eric Christian Olsen is one of the EPs.
