Keaton back on Spider-Man, D’Onofrio wants in too!

Last we heard Michael Keaton was being sought by Sony to play the villain in the “Spider-Man” reboot, “Spider-Man : Homecoming”, but negotiations quickly went south. Probably over money. Or screen time. Or something pertaining to the fact that the one-time “Dream Team” leader is now a bonafide bankable star again.

Well, seems the studio has given Keaton the money what he wanted. He’s now officially back on the Tom Holland-starring superhero film, reportedly in the role of The Vulture (movie buffs will recall that John Malkovich was set to play the same role in a proposed fourth “Spider-Man” movie of Sam Raimi’s).

VultureAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel and Sony had met with a “former True Detective star” (guessing Woody Harrelson) but are now back on team Keaton.

JoBlo says The Vulture won’t be the only villain in the movie, he’ll be aided by The Tinkerer.

… we can confirm that not only is The Vulture in the film, but he is, in fact, the main villain. But, he’s not the only bad guy in the mix. The Vulture will be aided by none other than The Tinkerer, who will help him build his suit with recovered Chitauri tech from the Battle of New York.

Keaton – and whoever ends up playing The Tinkerer – joins Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr, and Marisa Tomei in the Jon Watts (“Cop Car”) directed movie, due 2017.

Meanwhile, in ‘never gonna happen’ land, “Daredevil” star Vincent D’Onofrio tells Twitter followers that he’d love to reprise the role of Kingpin in the “Spider-Man” movie. The character is, of course, a pivotal character in the world of Spider-Man, just as much as he is in Daredevil, but Marvel seem intent on keeping their TV and film franchises separate for now.
