Kenny Rogers dies aged 81

Actor and musician Kenny Rogers has died at the age of 81.

The Grammy-award winning artist, who only three years ago was still touring, passed from natural causes. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, a service will be held at a later date.

Rogers’ signature song was “The Gambler”, which also featured in the telemovie of the same name. Rogers himself played the title role in the film and its sequels.

In addition to “The Gambler” series, Rogers starred in such films as “Six Pack”, “Wild Horses”, “Rio Diablo”, the “MacShayne” series and “Christmas in America”.

Rogers has charted more than 120 hit singles across various music genres, topped the country and pop album charts for more than 200 individual weeks in the United States alone, and has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

In 2018, Rogers announced he was retiring from the biz to spend time with his wife and twin sons.
