Lizzy Caplan will play a young Annie Wilkes in the second season of “Castle Rock”.

The “True Blood” and “Masters of Sex” alumna inherits the role from Kathy Bates, who played the obsessive fan in the 1990 film “Misery”.

The next batch of eps of the Hulu drama, based on the stories of Stephen King, fixes on Nurse Wilkes’ stopover  – with teenage daughter (Elsie Fisher) in tow – in the town.

The character gets caught up in a battle between two warring clans, the iconic Merrill crime family and John “Ace” Merrill (Garrett Hedlund), who is defending nearby Jerualem’s Lot. Tim Robbins, who starred in the King adaptation of “The Shawshank Redemption”, will play ‘Pop’ Merrill.

Robbins’ character, Reginald “Pop” Merrill, is the Patriarch of King’s iconic crime family.

No doubt a response to disquieting rumors concerning the show shutting down production early (and consequently getting a shorter run), DC Universe has released a fun promo for their upcoming “Swamp Thing” series.

The comic-adaptation, starring Derek Mears (“Friday the 13th”, “Twin Peaks”) in the title role and boasting a choice cast including Andy Bean, Crystal Reed, Will Patton, Jennifer Beals, and Virginia Madsen, has been shooting in Louisiana… home to swamps, apparently.

James Wan is one of the producers, Len Wiseman (“Live Free or Die Hard”) directed the pilot.

“Swamp Thing” will debut on DC Universe on May 31st.

Mike Myers is headed back to the box for a Netflix comedy

Mike Myers is headed back to the box – and with Netflix his new home, the rewards should be loftier than what he and his stringy-haired buddy were getting over at Community Access Television.

Ah, shit, Okay, so it’s not “Wayne’s World 3” (surely that’s on the way, right? You can’t just tease us with appearances of the duo at all these awards ceremonies and then yank the possibility of a new movie away from us!), and it won’t co-star Dana Carvey (but what’s the bet he makes an appearance!), but we can celebrate the return of “Saturday Night Live alum to the small screen. It’s a start. Means he’s hungry to work, and make us giggle-fart again.

Netflix has ordered a half-hour limited comedy series produced by and starring Myers, in which he plays multiple characters.

“I love creating characters, and Netflix has given me a fantastic playground to play in”, the actor, who has given us such memorable characters as Austin Powers and The Love Guru (heh), said.

Though details are being kept under wraps, seems the show has been granted a 6-episode order.

A couple more dynamite actors have joined the Patrick Stewart-Picard reprise series over at CBS All Access.

Alison Pill, who you’ll remember from “The Newsroom”, “Penny Dreadful” staple Harry Treadway and Isa Briones (“American Crime Story : Versace”) will share scenes with the chrome dome in the untitled “Star Trek” series.

Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd and Evan Evagora were previously announced for the series, which, the presser reminds us “features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on “Star Trek: Next Generation.” The new series will follow this iconic character in the next chapter of his life and will air exclusively on CBS All Access in the United States and will be distributed concurrently internationally by CBS Studios International.”

With Jonathan Frakes helming a couple of episodes of the show, I’m thinking the next casting announcement might pertain to a Riker reprise. Just a guess.
