Lussier, Columbus and Kalogridis rebooting The Rifleman

3D maestro (and all-round nice guy) Patrick Lussier (“Drive Angry”, “White Noise The Light”) is co-writing with “Shutter Island” scribe Laeta Kalogridis a TV reboot of the ol’ Chuck Connors western series “The Rifleman” for CBS.

Prolific film director Chris Columbus (“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”) will direct the pilot episode, according to Variety.

Kalogridis and Lussier are also executive producing with Carol Mendelsohn Prods.

The original series, broadcast from 1958 to 1963, was a half-hour Sam Peckinpah creation about a skilled gunman and widowed war hero who moves to a small New Mexico community with his son and is charged the task of cleaning up the town’s trash, so to speak.

Good work PL.
