Think you were done watching Will Smith and his “Karate Kid” son Jaden Smith make movies together after “The Pursuit of Happyness”? Well, if you didn’t, then you’re a smart cookie because the Smith duo will be back on-screen together again in M. Night Shymalan’s “One Thousand A.E.”
Yeah, you’re probably hating this film already since M. Night’s Attached, but at least this time around, he’s not writing the script so maybe that’ll help the film some. We first told you about “A.E” back in April, when at the time, Shyamalan and Garry Whitta were the ones who had written the script.
But Variety is now reporting that Stephen Gaghan has completed a polished version of the script. Shyamalan had rewritten the screenplay to fit his needs, but Gaghan was tasked with getting the script in shooting shape. He turned his revisions in to the studio nearly a month ago and may continue to work with Shyamalan to fine-tune the current draft as the pic’s February start date draws near.
Will and Jaden Smith are set to star as a father and son who crash-land on Earth one thousand years after mankind has abandoned the planet. The crash leaves the elder Smith badly injured, and it’s up to the boy to find help in what is now a strange and dangerous place.
And keeping the film all in the family, Shyamalan and Will Smith are producing with the latter’s Overbrook partners James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz and Jada Pinkett Smith.
