Warner Bros pushes the George Miller-prequel back a year

The next “Mad Max” has been pushed back a year.

“Mad Max : Furiosa”, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, will now open on May 24, 2024 instead of June 23, 2023, Warners has just announced.

Set to lens in New South Wales next year, injecting at least $350M AUD into the local economy and creating 850 jobs, George Miller’s “Mad Max : Furiosa” tells the backstory of the female counterpart first introduced in “Mad Max : Fury Road”. Taylor-Joy plays the younger Furiosa, inheriting the role from Charlize Theron.

Meanwhile New Line’s “Salem’s Lot” takes the September 9, 2022 slot. Directed by Gary Dauberman, and based on the yarn by Stephen King, the vampire film stars Alfre Woodard, Lewis Pullman, Makenzie, Leigh, Bill Camp, Spencer Treat Clark and William Sadler.
