Mark Hamill’s son-in-law doing Brad Dourif role in remake

David Dastmalchian, known for his roles in such films as “Ant Man & The Wasp”, “Blade Runner 2049”, “Bird Box” and “Sushi Girl”, starring alongside father-in-law Mark Hamill, will play the role of Piter De Vries in “Dune”.

The latest incarnation of the Frank Herbert literary classic comes to the screen courtesy the visionary Denis Villeneuve (“The Arrival”, “Prisoners”) and features a superlative cast including Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.

De Vries is a Mentat — a human specially trained to perform mental functions rivaling computers, which are forbidden universe-wide – who has been “twisted” into an amoral sadist by his Tleilaxu creators.

Brad Dourif played the role of De Vries in David Lynch’s “Dune” in 1984.
