Marvel’s The Defenders gets August Netflix release date

In a first look into Netflix original series “The Defenders”, a teaser trailer and a release date has been announced. The Marvel TV series will premiere on our screens August 18th, and centres around Marvel’s street-level heroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones)

Backing the teaser trailer is Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” (which is also a nice tribute to the anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death on 5th April, 1994), and the very short elevator security footage scene depicts the 4 characters, with Jessica Jones jumping to bust up the security camera. Note the timestamp on the footage as the screen goes fuzzy: 08:18:20:17 — get it?

“The Defenders” will be a eight episode miniseries and follows a whole bunch of individual shows for the Defenders, such as Daredevil, which went on for 2 seasons.

Marvel’s The Defenders’ follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

Sigourney Weaver has also been cast as the main villain of the series, however details of how she is connected remain unknown at this stage.
