Since portraying ‘Shaggy’ in Warner’s “Scooby-Doo” movies, the “Twin Peaks” and “Scream” actor has lent his lungs to 34 different projects including TV shows, direct-to-DVD movies, and video games. There’s even a couple more projects coming up, in which he voices Scooby’s pal. But as far as the recently announced “Scooby-Doo” movie goes, Warner Animation Group have sanctioned it a Lillard-free zone.
A couple of days ago, THR reported that a new animated “Scooby-Doo” film was in the works – with Will Forte voicing the role of Shaggy.
This was news to Lillard, who next voices the character in the telemovie “Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost”, seemingly.
Well this sucks.
What a crappy way to find out…. thanks Hollywood. You never sense to amaze me. https://t.co/QDdlMAqlrZ— matthew lillard (@MatthewLillard) March 2, 2019
Seems fellow “Scooby” vet Grey DeLisle, who has been the voice of Daphne since 2001, has also been replaced.
Truly heartbreaking. I feel like they should have used celebs in the supporting cast but kept the original gang. People want to hear the voices they grew up with. At least they kept Frankie. #ScoobyDooMovie https://t.co/m9dgPedNaJ

In addition to Forte, Tony Cervone’s “Scooby Doo” will feature Gina Rodriguez as Velma, Frank Welker as Fred and Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman.
