Meet the new cast members of Mortal Kombat!

James Wan’s “Mortal Kombat” is coming together with Jax, Liu Kang, Raiden, and Mileena being cast! Mehcad Brooks (“Supergirl”), Tadanobu Asano (“Thor: Ragnarok”), Australian newcomer Sisi Stringer and Ludi Lin (“Power Rangers”) are all on board. Joe Taslim has already be cast as as Sub-Zero.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Brooks will be playing Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs, the Special Forces muscleman who is a mainstay in the video game franchise; Stringer is Mileena, the unstable, sai-jabbing assassin; Lin is Liu Kang, one of the game’s original characters, a monk-turned-fighter. Asano, a veteran actor in his native Japan, is in negotiations to play Raiden, the Japanese god of thunder.

The film will be based on the iconic video game of the same name, which has sold over 49 million copies since its 1992 release.

Wan is directing the film, which will film in southern Australia later this year, and it will be exec produced by Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear and Sean Robins.

“Mortal Kombat” is headed for release March 5, 2021.
