Michael Shannon is nearing a deal to play George Jones in “George & Tammy”, John Hillcoat’s upcoming series about the eventful marriage between country music couple Jones and Tammy Wynette. Jessica Chastain has been cast as Wynette.
Production begins in North Carolina on Wednesday on the film, which Shannon and Chastain will do their own singing in. Abe Sylvia is the show’s creator and executive produces alongside Andrew Lazar, Josh Brolin and Chastain.
“George & Tammy” will premiere exclusively on Spectrum followed by a second window on Paramount+ and the Paramount Network.
