Mighty Ducks TV series coming to Disney+ with Gilmore Girls star

Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack…. oh yes, get that back in your heads dear readers because “The Mighty Ducks” is making its comeback – to TV!

A 10-episode series has been ordered to Disney+ with Lauren Graham of “Gilmore Girls” fame to play the lead, Alex. “Good Girls” star Brady Noon will play her son.

“The Mighty Ducks” was a 90s franchise consisting of three feature films (like you need me to tell you that). The TV series is set to start filming in Vancouver shortly with the show to premiere later this year.

Per Variety the new “Mighty Ducks” is set in present day Minnesota, where the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan (Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom Alex (Graham) set out to build their own ragtag team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of competitive youth sports.

James Griffiths and Michael Spiller will serve as executive producers on “The Mighty Ducks” with Griffiths directing. Steve Brill, who created the original franchise, is on board as co-creator and executive producer.
