Mitch Pileggi confirmed to return for The X-Files Season 11

It might not be the world’s most surprising news considering FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner is one of The X-Files‘ most beloved and important characters, but fans will still be pleased to know that Mitch Pileggi will be reprising his role in the upcoming eleventh season of Fox’s spooky series.

Making his first appearance late into the first season of The X-Files back in 1994, Skinner quickly became a fan favourite as he turned from skeptic boss to powerful ally for Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

Aside from series leads David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, no further casting has been announced – but it’s likely we’ll see some more fan favourites, and guest cameos along the lines of Rhys Darby and Kumail Nanjiani in last season’s hilarious episode Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster’.

The new season was confirmed by Fox via the official X-Files Twitter account back in April. While we don’t have a specific premiere date yet, it looks like the show is set return at some point between late 2017 and mid-2018.  For those who can’t bear to wait for more Scully & Mulder, Audible have just released an X-Files prequel audio-drama starring several members of the show’s cast.
