Three Kingdoms film, starring Chow Yun Fat
Model Lin Chi Ling will join Chow Yun Fat in John Woo’s next film, the long-in-development “Battle of Red Cliff”, says CRIENGLISH.com.
Ling will play a woman who “loves peace and is opposed to war” in the movie, which is based on a renowned battle during China’s Three Kingdoms period of 221-265 AD, Woo said during a visit to Taiwan. It’s believed she’ll play Yun Fat’s – who plays a general – wife in the movie.
The movie set to start shooting next year and co-starring Tony Lieung and Chiu Wai – will be a joint production between China’s state-owned China Film Group and Woo’s Los Angeles-based Lion Rock Productions.
Woo will have quite the busy year, next year, with no less than five films in the works: “Spy-Hunter” starring The Rock, the crime-thriller “The Red Circle”, “Metroid” and “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”, which he’s deferred temporarily to give more attention to the long-gestating “Red Cliff”.
