More casting: Judy Greer; Rita Ora; Melissa McCarthy

Judy Greer has been cast as a series regular alongside Jim Carrey, Catherine Keener and Frank Langella in upcoming Showtime series “Kidding”, reports Variety.

The 10-episode series focuses on Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles (Carrey), an icon of children’s television, a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America’s impressionable young minds and the parents who grew up with him – who also anchors a multimillion dollar branding empire. But when this beloved personality’s family (wife, two sons, sister and father) begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairy tale or fable or puppet will guide him through this crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. The result: A kind man in a cruel world faces a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.

Greer will play Jill, Jeff’s estranged wife who has recently hit a rebellious streak.

Rita Ora is the latest to join the cast of “Detective Pikachu”, the first live-action Pokemon film. Also starring is Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton.

Ora’s role in the film is at this current stage being kept secret, reports THR, but the film is currently in production with Rob Letterman directing.

Melissa McCarthy is in the final stages of penning a deal to star alongside Tiffany Haddish in “The Kitchen”, reports Deadline. The film is of the DC universe, and is based on the comic series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle. Andrea Berloff is making her directorial debut with the film.

According to the report, “The Kitchen” is an Irish mafia story set in Hell’s Kitchen, New York in the 1970s. An FBI sweep catches mob leaders, and while they are under arrest and their criminal enterprise is jeopardized, the mob wives take over. They end up running the illicit business in more vicious fashion than their husbands ever did.
