More film delays : Free Guy, Death on the Nile, Fantastic Beasts

Yet more films are moving from the 2020 release calendar.

Late last week Disney and 20th Century announced that, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, both Ryan Reynolds action-comedy “Free Guy” and all-star sequel “Death on the Nile” have been moved from their December release dates to sometime in 2021.

“Free Guy”, directed by Shawn Levy was due to open December 11 while the “Murder on the Orient Express” follow-up was to open December 28.

Meantime, Warner Bros has confirmed that its third “Fantastic Beasts” movie – which they’ve tossed Johnny Depp from – will no longer open in 2021. That film, which was due to open November 2021, will now open sometime in 2022.

With a large number of theaters still shut in the U.S – including major markets like New York and Los Angeles – don’t expect any new major theatrical releases until at least next Easter.
