Hold the “Ant Man 3”, “Indiana Jones 5”, “Captain Marvel 2”- Steven Soderbergh just doubled down on your sequel slate, Disney… and all it took was the one single movie.
The indie wunderkind’s “Sex, Lies & Videotape” (1989) is spawning a sequel- complete with the original players, Andie MacDowell and Laura San Giacomo.
The “Ocean’s Eleven” director let slip plans for the project in an interview with Filmmaker Magazine that he’s spent most of the pandemic thinking about Giacomo bumping uglies as opposed to coronavirus conspiracy theories.
“When I thought about ‘Sex, Lies and Videotape,’ I realized that what I wanted to see is a movie about the two sisters 30 years later. One of them has had a child who is about the same age that she was in the original. Both Andie [MacDowell] and Laura [San Giacomo] have agreed to come on.”
No word if James Spader’s seductive drifter is going to wander back into town for another tryst with MacDowell.
