Netflix developing Splinter Cell Anime Series

Netflix is teaming with software developers Ubisoft to bring an anime series adaptation of “Splinter Cell” to TV. Derek Kolstad (“John Wick”) has been tapped to write and act as executive producer for the series – which word has it has been assigned a two-season, 16 episode order at Netflix.

The video game of “Splinter Cell” was first released in 2002, and follows former U.S. Navy SEAL Sam Fisher after he is recruited by the NSA to work for the mysterious Third Echelon division within the agency. The game sees Fisher engage in number of black ops missions, employing stealth and military tactics.

It has been a huge success, with six sequels and a series of novels. A feature film adaptation has been dormant for some time now, and originally had Tom Hardy attached to star as Fisher.
