Neve Campbell concludes involvement in Scream franchise

She has appeared in every “Scream” film

Neve Campbell (“Sidney Prescott”), left, and Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) star in Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group's "Scream."

Neve Campbell has opted not to reprise her role as Sydney Prescott in the upcoming “Scream 6” over a pay dispute. Further, the actress tells Deadline she’s taken the opportunity to retire the character.

“As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

“It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years,” adds Campbell.

Directed again by “Scream” (2022) helmers Radio Silence, the sixth instalment will star Hayden Panetierre, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Dermot Mulroney, who will play a cop. The film opens on March 31, 2023.
