Sony’s Screen Gems label has teamed with Eli Roth and Jack Davis’s Crypt TV to produce a 10-minute short film based on the William Castle horror classic “13 Ghosts“.
According to Deadline, the short – shooting in the winter – will premiere early next year on streaming platforms. If it’s popular, a new feature-length remake (the second, following the 2001 redo) of the movie might come to fruition.
“13 Ghosts” centered on a family who inherited a house harboring 13 diabolical spirits.
Meanwhile, Deadline also reports The CW is resurrecting classic ’60s supernatural soap “Dark Shadows“, with “Ghost Whisperer” scribe Mark P.Perry writing the pilot.
The new take, which Perry will executive produce along with Amasia Entertainment’s Michael Helfant, Bradley Gallo and Tracy Mercer, along with Tracy Curtis and Cathy Curtis, is described as “a modern-day continuation of the strange, terrifying, and sexy saga of the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine — a mysterious, influential, publicity-shy group hiding a ghastly secret: For the past 400 years, they’ve lived under a curse that bedevils their blue blood with every imaginable supernatural creature and horror. “
