New Elm Street film and TV series on the way

Following recent reports that Wes Craven’s estate has inherited back the rights to the “Nightmare on Elm Street” series, Bloody Disgusting reports that the brass taking care of the late filmmaker’s masterwork have started hearing pitches for a new ‘Freddy’ film – and TV series.

According to the site, the estate wants to hear creative pitches for the new “Nightmare on Elm Street” movie, as well as ideas for a series – one that would air on the soon-to-launch HBO Max.

While a prequel idea had been floated many years ago, and actor Robert Englund recently expressed interest in playing the role of Krueger one more time, there’s no word on any frontrunners for the jobs, respectively.

The last time the Springwood slasher appeared on screen was in the tomato-tossed remake in 2010.
