Lee Cronin (“The Hole in the Ground”) has been hand-picked to direct a new take on Sam Raimi’s classic “Evil Dead”.
Said to be it’s own thing – as opposed to a sequel to the recent remake, or a Bruce Campbell-starring ‘Ash’ jaunt – “Evil Dead Now” sounds like it’ll be fast-tracked into production as soon as Covid f*cks off.
Bruce Campbell, who starred in three “Evil Dead” films and TV spin-off”Ash vs. The Evil Dead”, revealed the news in a chat with Empire :
“We’re just getting off the phone with Lee Cronin, who is writing and directing the next ‘Evil Dead’. It’s called ‘Evil Dead Now.’ Sam [Raimi] handpicked Lee – he did a cool movie called ‘The Hole In The Ground.’ We’re going to get that sucker out as soon as practical.”
As much as we all love Campbell’s chainsaw-wielding hero, let’s remember that the “Evil Dead” remake – that he didn’t star in – was a helluva lot of fun, so these guys seemingly know what they’re doing here.
