New gigs for Grey’s Anatomy alumni : Convent drama, Doubt

“Grey’s Anatomy” alum Shonda Rhimes is developing an untitled ‘Brides of Christ’ drama, set in a Bronx convent, to air on ABC.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Alison Schapker (“Brothers and Sisters”) written drama centers on “a group of Catholic nuns fighting the closure of their Bronx-based convent who must suddenly deal with three young novices whose arrival unearths long-buried secrets.”

Meanwhile, former “Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl has replaced KaDee Strickland (“Private Practice”) on CBS drama “Doubt”, says THR.

From “Grey’s Anatomy” alums Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, the show fixes on “Sadie, a smart, chic, successful defense lawyer (Heigl) at a boutique firm who shockingly gets romantically involved with one of her clients who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime.” Just as Strickland was replaced as the female lead, so too will be male lead Teddy Sears – with a bigger name. Dule Hill, Laverne Cox, Kobi Libii, Elliott Gould and Dreama Walker are also onboard.
