Next live-action redos? Bambi & Pinocchio

A live-action take on Disney’s “Bambi” is in the works at the house or Mouse.

Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer will write the film, with producers on the project including Paul and Chris Weitz.

Seen as a companion piece to the recent live-action remakes of “The Jungle Book” and “The Lion King”, “Bambi” will, of course, retell the story of a young fawn named Bambi as he learns his place in the forest. With his two best friends, a rabbit named Thumper and a skunk named Flower, Bambi comes of age as he faces the joys and heartache — cue the loss of a parent — of growing up.

Meanwhile, “Back to the Future” Director Robert Zemeckis has closed his deal to direct the live-action “Pinocchio” for the studio. The film, which boasts the same producing committee as the aforesaid “Bambi” redo, has been long in the works with veteran filmmaker Zemeckis circling it for quite a while.
