“No one told me about it” : John Carpenter on Escape reboot

The new film will hail from the “Scream” filmmakers

Lionsgate

Despite heavy rumors – reputable ones – that OG ‘Snake’ Kurt Russell is reprising his role in the new film, the director of the original Escape From New York says he hadn’t heard the news that the reboot was inching forward.

Speaking to Variety, John Carpenter said he hasn’t been updated on the film’s progress.

“No one told me about it. This is the thing about my career in Hollywood – no one tells me anything. They never tell me things… Last I heard was they were developing it where Snake would be a woman. But, no, I haven’t heard about this latest thing. No one wants me around, and they don’t tell me anything to keep me in the dark. It’s safer for them… Apparently, we got an email. My wife tells me we got an email.”

The new film, produced by Radio Silence, is apparently set in the same universe and continuity as Carpenter’s films.
