Nolan approached to reboot Batman!?

After his success with The Dark knight trilogy, no surprise really to hear that Warner Bros pressed director Christopher Nolan to get involved with their future superhero slate.

Among the options Warner presented to the director was a reboot of the ‘Batman’ franchise – yes, the same franchise he’d only just concluded.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Nolan refused to reinvent the ‘Batman’ series a second time, and also wasn’t keen to get involved in any superhero films at the time (though he did end up with a producer credit on “Man of Steel” and an executive producer on “Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice”).

Nolan isn’t ruling out a return to the superhero genre at some stage, but doesn’t feel there’s much of a point at the moment – especially if it’s to do something with Batman.

“I love working in that field and hopefully I’ve added something to it”, he told TIME OUT. I know to some extent we encouraged more of it. You don’t want Hollywood to hit saturation point with those things. But then Zack Snyder is now doing his part by bringing Batman and Superman into one film [for 2016’s Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice], so that limits the number!”

As much as I loved his take on Batman, I think Nolan’s at his best when doing original stories – like next week’s anticipated “Interstellar”.
