Official : Emile Hirsh is John Belushi

It’s official : Emile Hirsh will wear the dark shades of the late John Belushi in a biopic on the stout, sensational Blues Brother.

Steve Conrad (serving as writer and director) picked Hirsh, known for his weighty turns in such flicks as “Into the Wild” and “Killer Joe”, over several other Belushi-apt candidates.

Unlike the ’80s bio on Belushi, the ill-fated “Wired”, the new untitled Belushi project will be less of an authorized chronicle of the comic actor’s rise and fall, and more of an official last cinematic word. Dan Aykroyd, Belushi’s friend and “Blues Brothers” co-star, will executive produce the picture. Judy Belushi, the actor’s widow, is also on the board of producers.

Hirsh next appears in the telepic “Bonnie & Clyde”, and will be seen on the big screen as part of the ensemble for Pete Berg’s “Lone Survivor”.
