Old favorites to return in Men in Black International

That new “Men in Black” flick? It’s more a sequel than a straight-up reboot that impalpably flashes a mind-wiping device in front of the original trilogy – and thank , the last thing we need is another dang do-over!

But does that mean we’ll see the Fresh Prince do a drive-by in the film’s third-act? probably not.

The ‘it’s a sequel, dog’ comment comes from director F.Gary Gray, who says “MIB International” is a continuation of the Will Smith-Tommy Lee Jones films – just without them in it.

“We went into the project knowing the deep affection we and the fans have for Will and Tommy,” the filmmaker tells EW. “We’re not replacing them, simply adding to their team.”

Adds “I think the biggest difference [in this story] is that this time the enemy is within. MIB has been compromised from inside, which leads them on a globe-trotting adventure to discover the true nature of the threat.”

The new film is headlined by Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, but it’s the latter’s character, Molly, who is seen as the driving force of the film.

“The genesis of the whole thing is a young girl whose life had been altered by an encounter with Men in Black,” the “Creed” actress says, “and the idea is that unlike Will [Smith] in the original films, she’s a protagonist who hasn’t been recruited but has found them.”

Merchant-Ivory fugitive Emma Thompson reprises her role as ‘O’ from “Men in Black 3”, and she plays the Rip Torn of the new pic, selecting new blood.

According to producer Walter F.Parkers, ‘O’ “sees Molly’s potential and sends her to London, where there’s suspicion that the agency may have been compromised from within. There she’s teamed with Chris, the charming and legendary Agent H, [who is] known as one of the greatest to ever wear the suit but who’s fallen on some hard times.” When an emissary from a powerful alien government is killed on H’s watch, he and M have to team up to identify the killer — and locate the mole whose existence has become a mortal threat to the agency’s core mission of protecting Earth from “the scum of the universe.”

As for whether we’ll have seen some of that ‘scum’ before?”

“Don’t be surprised if you see the Worm Aliens make a brief appearance,” says Parkes.

“MIB International” opens June 14.
