Olivia Wilde to direct Marvel film for Sony Pictures

“Booksmart” director Olivia Wilde has signed a deal to direct a female-centric Marvel film for Sony Pictures. The film is yet-untitled, but speculation is rife that it could be centred around the Spider-Woman character.

The Marvel film will be written by Katie Silberman with Amy Pascal producing. Rachel O’Connor will executive produce.

“Booksmart” was Wilde’s directorial debut, and she is also attached to direct the thriller “Don’t Worry Darling,” starring Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, Shia LaBeouf and Dakota Johnson.
