A sequel to ’80s nugget “One Crazy Summer” is in the works – but don’t expect John Cusack or Demi Moore’s names to be amongst those listed on the credit block.
Famed director Savage Steve Holland tells FastCompany he has a “semi-sequel” in the works to the 1986 flick that’ll feature most of the supporting cast from the movie, including Curtis Armstrong, Bobcat Goldthwait and Joel Murray.
Goldthwait, now a formidable filmmaker in his own right, is reportedly helping Holland flesh out the storyline.
“I’m doodling with Bobcat Goldthwait on a semi-sequel to One Crazy Summer. Our lives are just really different but I still love him and we say we gotta do this thing. So we are working on One Epic Fall. Of course, Joel [Murray] is gonna be in it. The question is, how do we make it a sequel when Cusack’s not gonna be in it? But we have so many bad, dumb, great jokes we’re piecing together to see if we can pull it off. I don’t think Demi [Moore] would be on board, but with Joel [Murray], Bobcat [Goldthwait] and Curtis [Armstrong], you’ve already got a trifecta of genius there.”
Cusack was never a big fan of “One Crazy Summer” or “Better Off Dead”, both of which Holland helmed, so there’s buckley’s chance he’ll be in this – but then again, did anyone actually expect *spoiler* Cusack to cameo in the poohtastic “Hot Tub Time Machine 2”? *end spoiler*
