Original Ghostbusters confirm return!

While we already suspected as much, both Dan Akryod and Ernie Hudson have confirmed they will be back for “Ghostbusters 3”, releasing in 2020. That just leaves Bill Murray with a giant question mark hovering over his head – c’mon Bill!

Sigourney Weaver previously revealed the gang will be back together, but this is the first time they’ve confirmed their involvement.

In an interview aired over the weekend with the Joe Rogan Podcast, Akyroyd stated “I’m not in the pictures so much anymore. We’ve got the Ghostbusters movie that we’re working on now and I will have to be performing in that.” He also added: “It’ll be all or most of the original people … It’s gonna be great.”

Hudson also noted “We’re shooting the new Ghostbusters right now, coming out next summer, so I’m hoping that you’ll enjoy it as much as the other movies that we’ve done. I know that I’m having a blast doing it.”

The sequel will be directed by Jason Reitman, the son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original film and its 1989 sequel, “Ghostbusters II.” The film will reportedly follow the exploits of the ghostbusters in the original movie, which took place in New York City.

Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Carrie Coon, Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim and Paul Rudd are all newbies to the franchise, which is currently shooting in Calgary.
