Oscar Winner joins Eddie Murphy’s latest

Cuba to Eddie : Show me the Money!

Do I smell semi-sorta-possible-potential comeback, for Cuba Gooding Jr?

Eddie Murphy – working on a comeback of his own, at the moment, what with his highly hyped supporting role in the forthcoming “Dreamgirls” getting some good early buzz – has asked Cuba Gooding Jr, swimming in dud-infested waters of late, to co-star in his next movie, the comedy “Norbit”.

The industry – or rather, his slack agent – hasn’t been too kind to Oscar Winning Gooding Jr (“Jerry Maguire”) of late. In quintessence, Gooding Jr seems to headline nothing but unappealing video fodder these days, including “Dirty”, “Boat Trip”, “End Game” and “The Fighting Temptations”.

Gooding Jr first worked with Murphy on “Coming to America” (1988), in which the former played a youngster who gets his hair trimmed by the gang (all the characters, or most of, were played by Murphy, from memory) at the salon, at the start of the film.

According to MTV, Gooding Jr isn’t the only notable name joining the flick – Marlon Wayans, Thandie Newton, Eddie Griffin and Terry Crews have also been roped into doing spots.

Says Crews, “”Eddie [Murphy]’s playing a guy that’s married to the worst woman in the world. And he’s playing the guy and the girl, which is insane.”

Murphy will once again be playing multiple characters in the film. Among the characters he plays – the sheepish title role and the overbearing wife infuriated by her husband’s attraction to Newton’s sexy character.

“I don’t think anyone’s prepared for what they’re about to see,” warned Crews.
