Oscar Winner in talks to play Frankenstein’s monster!

Javier Bardem in "Skyfall"

Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”, “Skyfall”) is in talks to star as Frankenstein’s Monster in Universal Pictures’ upcoming film that connects the studio’s stable of monsters.

According to Variety, it’s not yet known which monster feature Bardem would first appear in. Cruise and Crowe’s “The Mummy,” the first film in the monster series, is nearly done with filming.
Universal is also developing a “Bride of Frankenstein” feature, but sources indicate that Bardem’s Frankenstein would likely appear in another monster pic first with the possibility of getting a spin-off down the road.

Bardem was initially offered the role of Dr. Henry Jekyll in “The Mummy”, which he passed on and Russell Crowe took on instead.

Other films in this circle of connected films include a possible “Invisible Man” remake with Johnny Depp, a “Wolf Man” redo with Dwayne Johnson rumoured to be up for the lead, and a remake of “Creature from the Black Lagoon”.
