Paramount+ launches in US March 4, Star launches in AU Feb 23

Depending on which side of the world you’re placed, you’re about to get one of two really nifty-sounding streaming platforms.

ViacomCBS have announced that their CBS All Access rebrands as Paramount from March 4, launching in the U.S and Latin America.

Australia will also have access to Paramount+ from mid-year.

Some predict that, if the coronavirus sticks around for the best part of 2021, then a mass of Paramount’s theatrical releases may be sent direct to the streamer.

Meanwhile, Australian Disney+ subscribers will soon have the option to add new channel ‘Star’ to their package.

The upgrade will offer punters to a cavalcade of movies and TV series – more adult-oriented content, if you will – from the stables of Disney’s Touchstone label and Fox catalogue.

Disney+ will activate ‘Star’ from Feb 23rd for $11.99 a month. Star will be accessible as the sixth brand tile in the app.

Offerings said to be headed to Star include classic Fox series like “24”, “Desperate Housewives” and “Prison Break”, as well as the “Die Hard” series and “Deadpool”. There will also be a swerve of local content and new series added, like “Big Sky” and “Love, Victor”.
