Patrick Stewart looks to reprise his iconic role – no, the other one – of Captain Jean-Luc Picard for a new “Star Trek” series, reports The Live Feed.
Stewart, who we assumed hung up his red get-up (for good) many years ago, is said to be already onboard the Alex Kurtzman-Akiva Goldsman hatched “Next Generation” follow-up.
The aforesaid duo, who were both on the first season of CBS All Access’ “Star Trek : Discovery”, would head up the project – which CBS tells the trade isn’t an official ‘go’ yet, despite the attachments.
In a recent interview, Stewart hinted about his return to the franchise, who last played the captain of the Enterprise in 2002’s “Nemesis”.
Kurtzman, the executive producer of “Star Trek: Discovery” has renewed his overall deal with CBS Television Studios, signing a massive five-year extension with the studio behind the latest entry in the long-running sci-fi franchise. As part of his new gig, Kurtzman will also expand the franchise for the small screen, developing new series, miniseries and other content, including animation.
