Peyton Reed directed Fantastic Four reboot in 2022!?

While Kevin Feige had previously ruled out reintroducing any silver side-burned characters into the MCU anytime soon, the rumor mill is gassed with a potential “Fantastic Four” reboot landing in 2022.

Marvel Studio’s main man had ruled out introducing the ‘first family’ before Phase 5 – they’re only now just about to begin work on Phase 4, so that’s years and years away – but according to GWW, a ‘Storm’ might blow in sooner.

The GWW is hearing, but cannot confirm, that Marvel Studios is aiming for a 2022 release for the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. Sources also say that ‘Ant-Man’ director Peyton Reed is pushing to direct, and has already pitched his vision for the movie to Feige multiple times. Reed’s pitch includes a 1960s setting that involves the Quantum Realm, and possibly The Black Knight.

As the site reminds us, Reed has pitched a “Fantastic Four” movie to Fox back in the day  – one which he proposed be set in the ’60s.

“Visually, one of the things we always talked about – and this was 2003 – was The Fantastic Four as daytime superheroes. They don’t have secret identities. They’re very much a part of the fabric of Manhattan. In that universe, if you go to New York to the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty or the Baxter Building, it was all a part of that. We talked about it being a ’60s period movie, but Fox at the time was not into it.”

The last “Fantastic Four” flick, the Josh Trank turd released in 2015, made less money than a toothy hooker on Valentine’s day so expect the Feige-spearheaded take to be something not only different but much more ambitious and, I dare so early claim, appealing.
