Poltergeist remake coming from Avengers directors

Marvel darlings Joe & Anthony Russo have been handed the keys to the MGM vaults, consequently selecting a few choice titles from the shelves to redo.

According to Deadline, the siblings have made a multi-film non-exclusive creative partnership to co-develop, co-produce and co-finance a slate of projects.

One of those projects is Tobe Hooper Classic “Poltergeist”.

Produced by Steven Spielberg, the timeless spookshow tells of a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces must come together to rescue their youngest daughter after the apparitions take her captive.

This will be the second remake of “Poltergeist”, following the 2015 incarnation starring Sam Rockwell.

If the Russo’s can link their new version to the original 1982, while throwing in some new-fangled concepts and nifty modern FX, this one might even make a buck.

The “Avengers : Endgame” directors have also expressed interest in producing new takes on “The Thomas Crown Affair”, starring Michael B.Jordan, “It’s a Mad Mad Mad World”, “The Secret of NIMH” and “The Pink Panther”.

Christopher Markus and Steven McFeely, who collaborate regularly with the duo, are involved in the writing of many of the new projects so there’s a good chance  they’ll turn out solid.
