#ReleasetheSnyderCut trending – and here’s why!

They are listening now.

A couple of years after the whole ‘Release the Snyder Cut’ movement began, the stars of the frankensteinien “Justice League” along with director Zack Snyder took to their social accounts today to encourage Warner Bros release Snyder’s original version of the film.

Before exiting the picture – and subsequently, it seems, the DECU indefinitely- “Batman vs. Superman” and “Matt of Steel” helmer Snyder had grand plans for his “Justice League” – one that would’ve encompassed a story line that would‘ve played out over five films.

After he suffered a family tragedy, Snyder was forced to hand the reigns on 2017’s “Justice League” to Joss Whedon- with fans left wondering just how different Snyder’s version of the superhero team-up movie would’ve been.

Ever since, fans have petitioned in great masses to get the original director’s cut released. And fair enough too, seems Snyder’s film would’ve been quite different to the one released- and widely panned – in theaters; in particular, its ending would have been very different to the current culmination.

It’s rumored that Snyder’s version of the film would’ve seen Ben Affleck’s Batman “sacrificing himself” to save buddy Superman’s girlfriend, Lois Lane.

Wowzers.

Today, almost simultaneously, some of the film’s stars posted the hashtag #ReleasetheSnyderCut at the same time, suggesting that an announcement could be imminent…

Nobody seems to have seen the cut but many others, including filmmaker Kevin Smith can confirm it’s existence.

“I’ve not seen it firsthand,” Smith, who has directed several episodes of DC’s slate of small-screen efforts including “Supergirl” and “The Flash”, confirmed. “I’ve spoken now to enough people at various levels in that production. There IS a Snyder cut. For sure. That’s not a mythical beast. It exists. Now, it’s not a finished movie by any stretch of the imagination. There were things that went away from the story that they shot that didn’t wind up going into (visual) effects or anything like that.”

“So I would assume, based on what I’ve been told, that large sections of that Snyder Cut are, you know, pre-viz (with) a lot of green screen,” he continued. “We’re not talking a finished movie…the one I’ve heard everyone speak of was never a finished film. It was a movie that people in production could watch and fill in the blanks. It was certainly not meant for mass consumption.”

Snyder has confirmed numerous times that he didn’t even shoot many of the rumored scenes said to be in his version of the film.

“The original Justice League that Chris [Terrio] and I wrote, we didn’t even shoot,” the filmmaker said recently. “The actual idea, the hard, hard idea, the scary idea, we never filmed because the studio was like ‘That’s crazy.’”

“When this movie came out, understand that Chris Terrio and I had finished the script to Justice League before Batman v Superman came out. Some people didn’t like the movie. A vocal minority. So they said ‘There’s a lot of stuff we don’t want you to do,’ so we did a rewrite from that script.”

Star Jason Momoa, who plays Aquaman, has said in the past that he’s actually seen a Snyder Cut though – so even if many of the proposed scenes weren’t shot, there is a version out there that more closely resembles what the filmmaker had in mind.
