Revealed: MI6 title and how Tom Cruise broke his ankle

Two truths and a lie:

  1. Tom Cruise has joined Instagram @TomCruise
  2. The new MI6 title is “Mission Impossible – Fallout”
  3. Tom Cruise broke his ankle and messed up a stunt shot during filming

Okay. The lie is obviously #3. Even breaking an ankle WILL NOT make Tom Cruise mess up a stunt shot.

The actor appeared on Graham Norton with co-stars Rebecca Ferguson, Henry Cavill, and Simon Pegg, and explained: “I was chasing Henry and was meant to hit the side of the wall and pull myself over but the mistake was my foot hitting the wall. I knew instantly my ankle was broken and I really didn’t want to do it again so just got up and carried on with the take. I said, ‘It’s broken. That’s a wrap. Take me to hospital’ and then everyone got on the phone and made their vacation arrangements.”

Speaking about the story of the film, Tom added: “It takes into account all the previous Mission Impossible plots and it’s the fallout of all the good things we did that are now being used against us.”

“Mission: Impossible – Fallout” finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong.  Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.

See the footage of the now famous stunt-gone-wrong in the clip below. Warning – not for the squeamish.

The trailer for the film will be released next week during the Superbowl, with the film to be released (on schedule!) in July.
